Summary:    

Sharon Mandell is a Silicon Valley technology veteran with over 25 years experience in the fields of technology development and strategic technology implementation. Equally at home managing engineering teams or stewarding IT organizations, Sharon’s expertise spans software architecture and implementation, networks & data center management, implementing enterprise applications, and internet technology/business models.

Experience:

Most recently, Sharon was the CTO of BlackArrow, a startup delivering advertising technology to the television industry as it migrates from traditional schedule based delivery to a targeted, on demand, multi-viewing device business model. There she was responsible for engineering, IT & technical operations, and professional services.

In her previous roles as Vice President of technology of Knight Ridder, Inc. and CTO of Knight Ridder Digital, Sharon Mandell oversaw the strategic development, implementation and operations of technology across the company’s operations. Before joining Knight Ridder, she was vice president of technology for Tribune Publishing, and the first chief technology officer of Tribune Interactive. Previously, Mandell was co-founder of Plannet Crafters Inc., a developer of award-winning software utilities for Microsoft Windows. Sharon has also been a consultant to a number of corporations, venture capital and private equity firms at various points in her career. 

Education & Certifications:

Mandell holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science from Temple University. She completed graduate course work in Computer Science at Georgia Institute of Technology and holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Chicago. She sits on the Board of Visitors for Temple University’s College of Liberal Arts. Sharon was honored as Temple University’s College of Liberal Arts Alumna of the Year in 2004 and was a recipient of the YWCA of Silicon Valley’s "Tribute to Women and Industry" Award in May, 2005.
