Summary:    

 

Billy Hinners' career in the software industry spans more than 28 years. His expertise includes product strategy; large-scale, globally distributed, mission-critical software engineering; IT strategy and Vendor Management. 

  

Experience:

  

Most recently he’s consulted on product and launch strategy with a variety of start-ups in various phases. Previously, as Chief Information Officer at Autodesk Inc., he led several $10M+ global implementations, including a major rewrite of the company’s order to cash process to dramatically improve automation and sales efficiency.

 

Prior to joining IT, Mr. Hinners led the design, development, testing and publications teams that create and maintain Autodesk’s flagship AutoCAD line of products, used by architects and engineers worldwide to create designs and drawings on the PC. Mr. Hinners' diverse career has included positions in the US, Switzerland, and Australia. During the dot-com boom, he led engineering for Autodesk’s manufacturing supply-chain automation spin-off, RedSpark. Prior to Autodesk, he helped create a solids modeling application at a start-up which led to that company's acquisition by Autodesk. 

 

Education & Certifications:


In the community, Mr. Hinners has contributed as chairperson of the UC Berkeley Fisher IT Center Advisory Board, mentor for the MIT Clean Energy Prize, mentor for the FIRST robotics competition and a regular presenter at the National Youth Leadership Forum. He is also an active speaker on the subject of sustainable IT. He graduated from the Georgia Institute of Technology with a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science and Mechanics. He is based in San Rafael, California.

OVERVIEW
